DANCING HEALS—body mind and spirit. Dancing is good for whatever “ails” you.I began my journey into the world of dancing in 1981 when my mother invited me to attend a studio party to see her perform an exhibition dance. She had recently returned from Las Vegas where she participated in her first dance competition. It was love at first sight---I was hopelessly “hooked”. From that day forward dancing and teaching has been my passion. I call it being bitten by the “dance bug”. It has sustained me through the many ups and downs life hands us.I teach all the Ballroom dances, Latin, Country Western, Hustle, East and West Coast Swing--

Hello, my name is Ruben Diaz.  I've been an instructor for about 10 years.  During that time I have heard every excuse like:  I'm too old, young, fat, skinney, poor, rich, clumsey.  I have taught those who said they have:  Two left feet, can't hear the beat, not coordinated, have no sense of direction, and unable to pat their head--rub their stomach--and chew gum at the same time.  The BIG secret is "patience," and I KNOW it takes time and practice, so with me you will never feel uncomfortable.  I love what I do and you will see that in my lessons, so DO NOT DENIE YOUR PASSION!  I teach Ballroom, Latin/Rhythm, and Country Western Dances.  I also teach some of the specialty dances, like Argentine Tango and Lindy Hop.  Let me show you a whole new world...a world of dancing!

On a generously warm Texas spring day 9 years ago Patrick walked into a Franchise dance studio hoping to learn some country dances so he would not be a fish out of water at company happy hours out at Midnight Rodeo.  What he got was instruction on sensual rumba steps, steamy samba rolls and graceful waltz glide in addition to clean cut country dancing he originally signed up for.  Most importantly he was exposed to Salsa and West Coast Swing which would become his two most favorite dances.

From the day she was born Dasha has constantly been in motion. Perhaps it is due to the chilly climate of the frozen tundra of Russia , her birthplace, or perhaps it is because she is just overflowing with energy!  This perpetual need to be moving has caused her to roam the earth and tour 21 different countries. It is no surprise that when she is “confined” to San Antonio, where she lives, that she can be found dancing

Let me start by giving you some of my background.  I was born and raised on a small dairy farm just south of San Antonio.  My family has always been close, so every event I went to growing up was always  family related and usually involved a dancehall.  My grandmother on my mom's side had 15 kids, 2 boys and 13 girls.  So there were always plenty of ladies to dance with.  I first started dancing when I was 7 in my grandmothers kitchen..  My aunt Debbie gave me my first lesson while helping make dinner.  Ever since then I have country danced at every wedding, birthday, anniversary, graduation, and any other family event that music was playing.  I have always grown up on good old fashion country music.  Everyone from patsy Cline, to George Jones, to Ray Price.  But as I got older I branched out and started

Dancing makes you SMARTER!  Why not get smarter while you get your exercise, right?  We are all trying to get the most benefit in the least amount of time these days and that is exactly why I found myself in the world of dance.  The lead and follow of dance requires rapid-fire and split-second decisions to be made, and that improves cognitive ability!  This is true for the ladies too.  We really don’t “follow” the leader.  We interpret the signals given to us and that is amplified when we dance with different partners.   I have always had in interest in activities that challenge me while allowing me to meet new people, and I began with gymnastics classes and cheerleading.  I have 8 years of experience in gymnastics and 10 years in
